Interoperability isn’t a word that gets the pulse racing, but it will be the key theme underpinning everything the NHS does in 2019 as it bids to become a digital first organisation, according to Dr Simon Eccles, NHS National CCIO.
Dr Eccles was speaking to Journalista at a high-level Christmas networking event organised by the Health Innovation Network and DigitalHealth.London Accelerator last week, which we supported.
Eccles and other key NHS decision makers attended the event to celebrate the spread and adoption of numerous key innovations that are improving patient health and staff practise across South London. It was also an opportunity for them and select industry partners to meet innovators at the forefront of developing the foundations of NHS digital transformation.
A number of successful healthcare innovations were on display at the event including a video gaming platform that has transformed rehabilitation in older people, a hand-held device that has prevented 1,200 strokes to date and a virtual reality training simulation focussed on improving services for all who are affected or impacted by mental health issues.
