Kenny brings 25 years of media experience, in newspapers, digital, PR and comms.
He edited Metro for 12 years, leading the team that built the title from a start-up into the force it is now, and creating the world’s most successful free newspaper in the process.
Along the way, he saw Metro pick up numerous gongs (including a Stonewall award for its inclusive coverage), as well as becoming the first newspaper in space. More bizarrely, he was shortlisted for GQ Man of the Year but lost out when common sense prevailed among the judges.
He has also held senior positions at the Express and Mail, and in recent years has put his experience to use training others how to handle the media, as well as advising on PR strategy and messaging.
Kenny hasn’t lost his hunger for a good story, and loves digging around in statistics and background information for those nuggets that make a great headline.
At weekends, you’ll find him watching (and writing about) Formula 1 and other motorsports, if he’s not tramping across the hills with his camera. Or he may be decorating his old house in the Welsh Borders, a place where Shakespeare is said to have stayed while writing ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
