Journalista scoops a leading industry award!

Journalista is excited to announce our success in the 2011 PRCA Awards where we walked away with the trophy for Evaluation.

The category, which was introduced this year, focuses above and beyond the standard industry points of measuring success, with the aim of recognising the overall positive impacts of a campaign.

In order to succeed, a project has to demonstrate ‘that a PR team and its campaign are making a significant contribution to the organisation’ with an emphasis ‘on outcomes rather than outputs such as measures that result in an improvement in customer satisfaction, brand awareness or reputation, an uplift in sales, participation in a campaign or enquiries about a product or service’. How to give your organisation a (not quite) 60 minute makeover

Transforming deeply entrenched public perceptions can be one of the greatest challenges facing any established organisation. Coupled with a not-for-profit budget, such campaigns rely on a creative and proactive approach.

Last week’s PRCA campaign masterclass examined the transformation of an organisation that was defined by an outdated public image – the Girl Guides. Traditionally conjuring images of white, middle class Christian girls cooking marshmallows and singing Kumbaya, the Guides were in need of a huge image makeover.

Movember – Hair-raising PR

As you can see from this lovely picture, I am a proud moustache wearer. It’s perfect for keeping my upper lip warm during winter and storing morsels of food for the train ride home.

Due to the meteoric rise of Movember, this month is a very special time for all moustached gentlemen. Personally, I am enjoying a four week break from accusations of pretension and continual requests to connect my moustache with my beard (the coveted ‘Beppe’). I can instead tell people that I’m raising money for prostate cancer. This makes me look generous and hides the fact that I modelled my appearance on a backing singer from the 70s.

So what’s any of this got to do with PR?
