As the sun sets on another year, Journalista takes a step back and looks at the stories that have well and truly pitched their tents and occupied the headlines in 2011.

This week saw the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre with most nationals running daily stories in the lead up to 11 September. It may have seemed like saturated coverage, yet the ongoing fallout in Libya was still reported on more heavily over the week.

As with any major political event, the death of the world’s most wanted man marked a PR operation of unimaginable scale.
Far from being a vanity project, the way that such incidents are communicated to the rest of the world has greater bearing than almost any other PR campaign. Inter-governmental and interfaith relations are just a few of the things at stake.
