President Bashar al-Assad was under pressure as the death toll continued to rise in the city of Homs, subject of bombardment by Syrian national forces. Many commentators and activists have complained of widespread inaction following Russia and China’s veto of a UN resolution aimed at halting the conflict.
Thursday played host to a sporting double header beginning with the conclusion of the dramatic tax evasion trial of Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandarić at Southwark Crown Court. After a 13 day trial the two men were cleared by the 12 person jury of all the charges. Read more …

A hectic January here at Journalista Towers, but one of our most successful months securing coverage for clients.
Our big story of the month was Faith Matters’ report into Muslim conversion in the UK. A Minority Within a Minority is the most comprehensive study of converts carried out in this country. It provides fascinating new insight into the size of the convert population, how they go about finding information and how they perceive their role in British society.
Picked up by broadsheets, regional papers, radio, TV and the blogosphere, the story achieved a reach of over 62 million people, a figure almost identical to the population of the UK.

Speaking to the Royal College of GPs last Friday, Secretary of State for Health Andrew Lansley delivered a confidence shattering blow to the poor Department of Health communications person who wrote the national letter on patient records:
“We all received a letter through the door on patient records saying we could opt out if we wanted to, but the letter was so long and poorly written that I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who struggled to understand what it was saying!”
Ouch. However, having re-written the DoH standard issue press release into sentences that didn’t cause you pass-out for lack of breath mid-sentence, I catch his drift.
