Campaign to increase breastfeeding in Greenwich

As part of its brief to improve public health in Greenwich, Journalista launched a campaign to improve breast feeding rates across the borough through a targeted media and marketing campaign and local engagement work.

Journalista also used this campaign to create an example of best practice that other NHS organisations would seek to follow, better establishing NHS Greenwich as a leading health organisation not only locally, but also within national health and social communities.

The campaign was covered in the Evening Standard, BBC London, Ben TV, Nursing Times and the Health Service Journal as well as many other local publications.

Breastfeeding rates in Greenwich are particularly low amongst African and Caribbean populations and mothers living in low-socio economic areas. Working with Journalista, NHS Greenwich promoted, supported and encouraged mothers, particularly those who are less likely to breastfeed, to start and to continue breastfeeding up to their child’s first year.
