Aston University appoints Journalista for enterprising comms campaigns
Aston University, one of the top universities for graduate employability in the UK, has appointed enterprise and healthcare specialist PR agency Journalista to lead on communications strategy and engagement for the next three years.
Following a competitive three-stage tendering process, the University chose the specialist agency for its in-depth understanding of Aston’s academic strengths and successful campaigns to date for academic clients including UCL’s Institute for Global Prosperity and the Enterprise Research Centre (ERC), a multi-centre research institute based at Aston Business School.
Journalista will lead campaigns to position the University’s unique credentials in graduate employability and social mobility, alongside promoting the University’s new medical school and the research findings of leading Aston academics.
Aston featured in the top 80 in the World and came 12th in the UK in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2016, with 82% of alumni in graduate-level destinations within six months of graduation.
Last year, Times Higher Education ranked Aston second in the whole UK for teaching quality, using a methodology similar to the government’s forthcoming Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
Commenting on the appointment, Aston University’s Executive Director of Marketing Strategy and Communications, David Farrow, said:
“Our ambition as an institution to be the UK’s leading university for business and the professions. We were very impressed by the quality of the ideas that Journalista presented to us to help us realise that ambition.
“The Journalista team have shown us that they have what it takes to really get to grips with complex subject matter across a range of disciplines, and to communicate this information clearly to our target audiences – we can’t wait to get started with them.”
Director of Delivery at Journalista, James Tout, said he was excited about the challenging, multi-faceted brief.
“We’re delighted to have been selected as Aston University’s PR provider, as the institution seeks to reach new heights of media and stakeholder influence.
“Aston has a compelling story as a uniquely business-focused university that equips students for the world of work like no other. We’re looking forward to sharing that message with UK and international audiences.”
